Position Summary: 

-Lead worker on Property Restoration/Mitigation/Remediation projects.

-Working in cooperation with and under the direction of a, Field Operations Manager, Project Manager, or the  General Manager.

Assist and actively perform the following:

  1. Be the working leader of a Property Restoration/Mitigation/Remediation team on a project site and manage all needed preparations for such projects before the team reaches the project site.
  2. Sets up and maintains safety barriers to keep the public out of the work areas.
  3. General oversite of the remediation/mitigation process on the project site.
  4. Perform the remediation process in accordance with IICRC S500 standards.
  5. Employ all MPR safety standards for all workers, clients and the general public on the project site. Proper use of PPE on the project site.
  6. Take the appropriate medical steps in the event of a human injury in the course of the work.
  7. Gain a full understanding of a project before beginning.
  8. Delegate work assignments to supervised workers to maintain a steady work flow.
  9. Understanding and complying with any scope-of-work that is established for a project.
  10. Makes decisions as to what materials can be dried and what needs to be discarded for the project site.
  11. Manages and documents any client property, of value, that leaves the project site for cleaning, repair or that is discarded.
  12. Conveys all project deviations to the attention of the Project Manager.
  13. Completes all projects in a timely manner.
  14. Maintains organized and up to date project field records, updated daily.
  15. Manages the dry-out monitoring of multiple projects running simultaneously.
  16. Makes sure that a project site is left in a clean and organized state at the completion of each project.
  17. Manage and protect all of MPR’s property (rented or owned) under the lead technician’s control.
  18. Maintain and organize equipment and project materials in the shop.
  19. Maintain and organize equipment and project materials in/on his/her service vehicle.
  20. Makes sure that all trash and debris is removed from the Lead Tech’s truck at the end of every work day. And, makes sure that his/her service vehicle is clean and fully stocked at the end of each day.
  21. Participate in the MPR’s “after hours on call program”.
  22. Participate in company training or continual improvement programs and meetings.
  23. Pick up and drop off materials/equipment at vendors and project sites.
  24. Perform other functions related to supervising a Restoration/Mitigation/Remediation project under the direction of a Lead Tech or Project Manager.
  25. Moves large equipment and heavy contents inside of, into and out of project sites.
  26. Performs other functions related to supervising remediation/mitigation/cleaning projects under the direction of a project manager.

Position Duties:

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Project Worker (90%): 
  2. Takes leadership role in maintaining a positive working environment.
  3. Mentor or counsel others on proper technique, safety or compliance actions
  4. Leads co-workers with the proper use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and the first aid kit use for emergencies.
  5. Enforces MSD Compliance Safety rules.
  6. Utilizes advanced knowledge and experience to enhance the efficiency and safety of water remediation projects.
  7. Will be proficient in resolving the challenges of project preparation, property tear-our, content manipulation and damage mitigation, psychrometric drying techniques and project site management.
  8. Makes sure that all actions of the staff comply with the IICRC S500 Standards of Care.
  9. Models all quality and safety standards. 
  10. Sets up and maintains safety barriers to keep the public out of the work areas.
  •  Management (10%):
  • Takes a leadership role in maintaining a positive working environment.
  • Makes assessments and decisions on the spot concerning safety, process and labor needs.
  • Responsible for the overall quality and the timeliness of the completed projects.
  • Works closely with project managers to gain a complete understanding of the projects.
  • Follows any written project scopes or verbal direction from a project manager.
  • Conveys all project deviations to the attention of the project manager.
  • Documents all needed data (notes and pictures, client signatures) in accordance with MPR procedures.
  • Manages the time and activities of any supervised staff efficiently.
  • Maintain and organize equipment and project materials in the shop.
  • Maintain and organize equipment and project materials in/on his/her service vehicle.
  • Makes sure that the Brand Image of MPR is enhanced to the public at all times.
  • Presents areas for improvement and solutions at MPR meetings.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. 
  2. Must have good communication skills (in English), both in writing and verbally.
  3. Must have a valid Wisconsin Drivers License.
  • Experience:
  • 3+ years of experience in the water restoration industry as a Water Remediation Tech.
  • Required Certifications: IICRC; WTR, ASD. Wisconsin Lead Remodeler, OSHA construction safety class (10 hours)
  • Extensive equipment knowledge as it relates to proper drying techniques.
  • Basic building construction knowledge.
  • Proficient knowledge of computer tablets and basic typing skills.
  • Can read and comprehend written and verbal project scopes and construction drawings.
  • Must have in depth understanding of the IICRC S500 psychrometric drying techniques.
  • Must have an in-depth understanding of industry anti-microbial solutions.
  • Work Skills:
  • Must have an in-depth knowledge of the proper way to mitigate, tear-out, set up and dry, contain, monitor and close out a water remediation project.
  • Must be proficient in minimal property deconstruction as it relates to the tear-our phase of a project.
  • Must be able to motivate and lead water remediation technicians and relate in a professional way to the clients.
  • Proficient knowledge of computer tablets and basic typing skills.
  • Can read and comprehend written and verbal project scopes and construction drawings.
  • Must be organized and maintain proper documentation of each project following the MPR procedures and protocols.
  • Must be able to recognize errors or omissions made during the restoration process and convey them to the proper project manager.
  • Must understand the importance of project scheduling and completion times.
  • Computer/Software and Office Equipment Skills: 
  • Able to effectively use a computer laptop & tablet to document project data.
  • Able to learn the MPR project management software system in a short time frame.
  • Able to effectively use/read a moisture meter/thermal image camera/thermal hygrometer
  • Email, GPS, Smart phone, office copier/scanner.
  • Basic typing skills.

  • Has the ability to work independently and lead a team simultaneously. 
  • Must be able to make assessments and decisions on the spot concerning safety, process and labor needs.
  • Easily communicates with project managers and supervised team members.
  • Demonstrate leadership and organizational skills, and display a positive attitude in the process.
  • Attention to detail to evaluate if the progress of a progress meets the company standards and production schedule.
  • A willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed to be part of the MPR on-call program to respond to emergency situations.
  • Must be trustworthy, as a Lead Tech’s opinions and promises have great consequences.
  • Essential Physical/ Mental Requirements:
  • Work requires standing for eight hours a day with frequent kneeling, bending, lifting, reaching, walking stairs and carrying equipment and contents up and down stairs.
  • Work is performed in a potentially dangerous environment and periodic exposure to mold, potentially harmful solvents and biological contaminants that require employees to wear appropriate Personal Protection Gear (provided by the company).
  • Work is sometimes performed inside of a contained area, in a haz-mat suit, wearing rubber gloves and wearing a full faced respirator for hours at a time.
  • Employees must have a clean shaven face on days when they are wearing a full faced respirator in accordance with OSHA provisions.
  • Work is sometimes performed in a confined space with limited space to move around.
  • Work is sometimes performed outdoors in hot and cold weather.
  • Need to occasionally move and handle loads of up to 70 lbs.
  • Must be able to lead and make decisions.
  • Must demonstrate a mature and professional demeanor while working and teaching a team to reinforce the company’s production process standards, quality, and safety standards.
  • Dress Code: Company shirts/jackets/hats will be provided to all staff members, to be work during all working hours. Techs are to wear pants that do not show signs of extreme wear or have holes in them.
