Position Summary: 

Assistant to the Lead Tech (Tech3) on Property Restoration/Mitigation/Remediation projects.

Working in cooperation with and under the direction of a Lead Tech, Project Manager, or General Manager.

Assist and actively perform the following:

  1. Assist the Lead Tech of a Property Restoration/Mitigation/Remediation team on a project site and assist with all needed preparations for such projects before the team reaches the project site.
  2. Follow the verbal or written direction of the project leader.
  3. Sets up and maintains safety barriers to keep the public out of the work areas.
  4. Perform the remediation process in accordance with IICRC S500 standards.
  5. Employ all MPR safety standards for all workers, clients and the general public on the project site. Proper use of PPE on the project site.
  6. Gain a full understanding of a project before beginning.
  7. Understanding and complying with any scope-of-work that is established for a project.
  8. Moves large equipment inside of, into and out of project sites.
  9. Moves contents inside of, in and out of project sites.
  10. Conveys all project deviations to the attention of the Lead Tech.
  11. Completing assignments in a timely manner.
  12. Assist the Lead Tech in monitoring of multiple projects running simultaneously.
  13. Makes sure that a project site is left in a clean and organized state at the completion of each project.
  14. Manage and protect all of MPR’s property (rented or owned) under the lead technician’s control.
  15. Maintain and organize equipment and project materials in the shop.
  16. Maintain and organize equipment and project materials in/on his/her service vehicle.
  17. Makes sure that his/her service vehicle is clean and fully stocked at the end of each day.
  18. Participate in the MPR’s “after hours on call program”.
  19. Participate in company training or continual improvement programs and meetings.
  20. Pick up and drop off materials/equipment at vendors and project sites.
  21. Perform other functions related to supervising a Restoration/Mitigation/Remediation project under the direction of a Lead Tech or Project Manager.


Position Duties:

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Project Worker (90%): 
  2. Carries out the work assignments from the Lead Tech, Project Manager or the General Manager.
  3. Contribute to a positive working environment.
  4. Use the rule of “Safety First” in approaching all work assignments.
  5. Employ the proper technique, safety or compliance actions in all work processes.
  6. Learn and use all Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and the first aid kit use for emergencies.
  7. Will learn and will assist the Lead Tech in resolving the challenges of project preparation, property tear-our, content manipulation and damage mitigation, psychrometric drying techniques and project site management.
  • Shop Work and other assignments (10%):
  • Maintain and organize equipment and project materials in the shop.
  • Maintain and organize equipment and project materials in/on his/her service vehicle.
  • Removes all trash & debris from the service truck at the end of each day.
  • Makes sure that the Brand Image of MPR is enhanced to the public at all times.
  • Will assist with reconstruction projects as needed, to include shop and field work.
  • Presents areas for improvement and solutions at MPR meetings.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. 
  2. Must have good communication skills (in English), both in writing and verbally.
  3. Must have a valid Wisconsin Drivers License.

  • Experience:
  • 2+ years in a laboring or other physical position.
  • Basic building construction knowledge.
  • Work Skills:
  • Must be able to take verbal instructions and complete work tasks.
  • Must have a knowledge of how to use hand tools and power tools (skill saw, screw guns, sawzall, etc)
  • Must be proficient in minimal property deconstruction as it relates to the tear-our phase of a project.
  • Must be able to learn and comply with MPR procedures and protocols.
  • Must understand the importance of completion times.
  • Computer/Software and Office Equipment Skills: 
  • None.
  • Personal Attributes Required:
  • Has the ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Attention to detail to be able to self-evaluate is each work assignment is complete.
  • A willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed to be part of the MPR on-call program to respond to emergency situations.
  • Must be trustworthy, as a Tech’s opinions and promises have great consequences.
  • Essential Physical/ Mental Requirements:
  • Work requires standing and moving for eight hours a day or more with frequent kneeling, bending, lifting, reaching, walking stairs and carrying equipment and contents up and down stairs.
  • Work is performed in a potentially dangerous environment and periodic exposure to mold, potentially harmful solvents and biological contaminants that require employees to wear appropriate Personal Protection Gear (provided by the company).
  • Work is sometimes performed inside of a contained area, in a haz-mat suit, wearing rubber gloves and wearing a full faced respirator for hours at a time.
  • Employees must have a clean shaven face on days when they are wearing a full faced respirator in accordance with OSHA provisions.
  • Work is sometimes performed in a confined space with limited space to move around.
  • Work is sometimes performed outdoors in hot and cold weather.
  • Need to occasionally move and handle loads of up to 70 lbs.
  • Must demonstrate a mature and professional demeanor while working and working as a team to reinforce the company’s production process standards, quality, and safety standards.
